Large Format Digital Captures
To scan fine art, whether it be a 30x40 stretched oil painting or an 8 x 10 pastel, the greatest care needs to be given the original. In the past, the process for scanning large artwork was to first photograph it and produce a 4x5 or 8x10 transparency. The next step was to scan the transparency. This two step process meant the final scan was two steps away from the original and if the transparency was inaccurate, the scan of the transparency would not match the original art.
We looked at the way the great museums of the world copied their priceless art and decided this was the system we should employ to capture fine art for our clients. Similar to the systems used by the National Archive, the Smithsonian, Harvard University and many other prestigious institutions, our "Digital Capture System" allows us to digitize your artwork with the greatest fidelity without ever touching the surface of the art. We never place glass over the art and never run the art through any type of rollers.
Although our system is used primarily for fine art reproduction, we can also scan blue prints, architectural renderings, large photographs and any other flat object up to 48 x 48 inches and any thickness.
After scanning we will archive your digital file to either CD or DVD. Our large format digital captures conform to industry standards and calibrations. We provide an ICC source profile with the file. |
